It’s Week 4 of the One Room Challenge (ORC). This means that we are more than halfway through. The One Room Challenge now in it’s 11th season involves designers and bloggers transforming a space in 6 weeks. For my space I have chosen to do my Kitchen Nook in an Industrial Farmhouse style. Thanks Linda from Calling it Home who hosts this event in April and October.
Before I show you what happened in Week 4, take a look at where the Kitchen Nook started in Week 1. Here is what the space looks like in week 4. I added a white wash to the brick to help tone down the brick color. You can see the difference it makes. I am going to sit on this for a few days and I may add more white wash. I also added three Industrial Wood Top Counter Stools from Target to the island.
I was also able to work on the wood sign I plan to hang it on the soffit above the window. The sign is made out of pallets. Although I love the rustic look I am thinking it may be a little too rustic for the space. I plan to change it up some to achieve more of a modern look. I will reveal the final project in week 6.
So far this is what has been accomplished in this space:
Stencil brick and white wash the bay window wall Industrial hanging pendant light Buy or DIY counter height stools
- Add trim to the windows
- Add white shiplap to the remaining wall
- Window treatments – considering canvas roman shades buy or DIY
- Accessorize – tray, artificial plant, small kitchen sign for counters, DIY signs on overhang, salt and pepper shaker holder.
- A new back door if time and budget allows
Yikes it still seems like I have a lot left to do. I better get to it. See you all next week.
