Welcome to Week 2 of the ORC! I hope you have been checking out all of the other ORC participants. There are so many great vision boards out there and I am looking forward to seeing others’ progress this week. If your just joining in I am participating in the ORC and transforming my workout room.

It seems with most projects, redecorating, and room plans, once the project gets going inevitably there are going to be changes and challenges that are unexpected. I often feel I need a support group for DIY bloggers because I want to know that I am normal and there are others out there that face the same obstacles as myself. Like how come The Home Depot and Lowe’s saw is still not working, am I the only one that ever picks out bowed wood, why is my nail gun not firing nails, 31.5 inches is the center of the wall so why did I drill at 32.5 inches??? I think I am stuck in a an episode of Days of our Lives at times. Hopefully some day I will fully embrace the saying, “The only thing constant is change.” Until then there is always…. lots of wine.
So what has changed you might be asking. Well for at least this week the chains I put on my vision board will now no longer be used. I had originally thought I would drape these chains perpendicular to the corner and they would hold the workout balls, but after further planning that is no longer going to work.
In case you have forgotten what this sad room looked like in week 1, here you go. Alrighty so enough about all that lets move on to what happened in week 2. For week 2 I got started on the shelves that will be going on the west wall of the room. However I won’t be revealing the shelves until week 3. So what did you do…get to the point right??? I started out by cleaning up the room, getting a better idea of what stuff I had that needed rearranging and organizing, and I created visual plans.
Cleaning: this step actually was pretty easy. I mean I do currently use this space so it needs to be somewhat safe and clear for me to bust a move with my fancy pants workouts.
Rearranging: I laid out all the items to get an idea of what needs a home and where best to put it. I relocated the weights and weight rack to the west wall where it will sit under the soon to be installed shelves and moved the workouts mats slightly over towards the east wall. As you can see I also marked with where the shelves will be with craft paper. This has helped to create more workout area and better utilizes the workout space. The DVDs that currently are on the floor will soon be on the shelves. The workout books which are located in another part of the house and in the basket with the magazines will also be relocated to the shelves. Here is the plan for the west wall.
The fan I have right now sits on the floor…so glad its there to blow off my sweaty feet and calves but I care more about cooling off my face and upper body really. Currently I want to get a wall fan, which will again help to create more space and less clutter. I already have a basket that I will put workout mats, yoga blocks as well as any other misc items. I also plan to create some sort of chalkboard to organize my workouts over a two week time period. Probably the biggest struggle I have with working out is just deciding and planning what to do. I also want to get the magazines up off the floor to again take advantage of the space. My vision for this I am hoping will come together because I still am somewhat at a loss on the details. I also would like a coat rack to hang workout towels. Right now they hang on the stair banister…yuck!
Last but not least is the gallery wall on the east side of the room. Here is where I will display favorite inspirational quotes, word art, typography or whatever else I can come up with. Here is somewhat of an idea I was playing around with for the gallery wall.
I do have a couple of other ideas for the room, however I am keeping those a secret at the moment and will reveal them…maybe not until the end. This way I take pressure off of myself if I don’t actually get to do them… haha and it creates suspense, which what a better time to create suspense than with Halloween coming up.
Thank you for stopping by and checking out my progress for this week. Please take some time to visit the other participants in the ORC and see what they have been up to.
