STEPS TO MAKE DIY ROPE HANDLES
Step 1) Slide your keyrings into the eye of your screw eyes. Repeat this as needed.
Step 2) Measure, mark, and drill a small hole a short way into the place you plan to attach your rope handles then screw in the screw eye key rings. It’s helpful to use needle nose pliers for this.
Step 3) Choose the length of your rope. Make sure the rope is long enough that you can fold it over the keyrings and use it for a handle. I suggest cutting the rope longer than needed and then trimming it later.
Step 4) Thread the end of the rope through one key ring. Fold the end of the rope over about 1 – 1 1/2 inches. Use mini clamps to hold the fold in place. Start wrapping jute as close to the keyring as possible.
Apply glue to hold jute in place if needed. Continue wrapping and applying glue. When you are happy with the amount wrapped and you feel it will hold in place, cut the jute and glue the end down.
These rope handles are on my DIY wood lanterns. But there are numerous other uses for them.
